This story is about a person revisiting memories of their new house in New Port Beach. Their family had moved a total of 8 times so by the time they got into their new house they were more than happy to have a permanent home. Where the family had lived prior, the yards and houses around them were horrible so their new beautiful house was like a treasure. They were an Iranian family which was a bit uncommon in the neighborhood and everyone mistook them as being mexican.

My great grandfather was from the Philippines. He came to California when he was much older and had to adjust to a whole new lifestyle which at first was not very nice just like the family in this story. He eventually made a life for himself that was comfortable but this story made me think of how his experiance must have been.

This reading made me think of when I was young. I always took for granted that summer was so long and I had so little to do. Now when I have summer breaks I have work and school. The days when I had little if no chores or responsibilities are far gone.

This reading made me think of all the reasons I love Santa Rosa. Though I have been many beautiful places like the author has, I feel that living in the sonoma county area makes me happiest because of my memories here and everything that comes with the town itself. I love the atmosphere and the people that reside here and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I never knew that Berkeley was such a big town. I have passed by the college before but never really given the rest of the town a second thought.

This reading made me think of the first time I went into a biker bar. My dad is a Harley rider and has a little group like the group in the story so I went to a bar for his birthday. It was very loud and although I wasn't picked up by a large biker I did get the chance to talk and get a first hand view of the biker scene.

I did not know that people worried so much about how many rhinestones they had on their clothes? Other than that most everything else seemed pretty familiar to me.
